Kalaburgi: Smartphones and other prohibited items were seized during a search operation conducted by the police at Kalaburgi Central Jail. Police Commissioner SD Sharanappasaid that four people have been taken into custody for further questioning.

Preliminary investigation revealed that criminals were throwing contraband and other items into the jail premises. Two cases have been registered in this connection.In 2022, two accused were arrested for throwing three mobile handsets into the jail. He said that in another case this year, two accused who had thrown a mobile phone, a Chinese mobile handset and eight packets of ganja inside the jail were seized and the investigation is on.
