Kalaburagi: A head constable was attacked with a knife while trying to arrest a drug smuggler on Saturday. The police managed to arrest the accused by shooting him in the leg, said City Police Commissioner Sharanappa.
This morning, Inspector Chowk Rajendra, who received information about a suspicious person, went to investigate with the crime scene team. At this time, the inspector saw the suspect in the car and asked the driver to stop the car. Immediately, the suspect got out of the car and attacked Head Constable Gurumurthy, seriously injuring him, the Commissioner said.
The accused, Supreet Navale,is a resident of Muttampura, Kalaburagi city. When his car was checked, it was found that he was smuggling drugs, including Nitrovet tablets.
