A resident of an apartment in Jayanagar 1st Block, falling under the Siddapura Police Station jurisdiction, filed a complaint at the Siddapura Police Station on September 1, 2025. In the complaint, the complainant stated that they had hired a woman as a domestic helper one year ago. She left the job in February 2025. Afterward, she got her daughter hired for the same job. Her daughter also left the job in July. Following this, another woman working in the same apartment was hired for domestic work. On June 28, 2025, the complainant went to Pune for work. Before leaving, they checked the locker in the room and found the following items: 1) a 20g mangalsutra, 2) two 20g gold bangles, 3) five 24g gold rings, 4) a 3g gold pendant (star), 5) 250g of silver jewelry, and 6) a pair of 50g silver anklets.
When they returned from Pune on August 26, 2025, and checked the gold and silver items in the locker, they found them missing. The complainant expressed suspicion about the two former maids who had worked in the house and the maid currently working there. A case of theft by a servant was registered at the Siddapura Police Station.

The police continued their investigation from various angles and questioned the three domestic helpers on September 6, 2025. The maid currently employed confessed to stealing the gold and silver items from the complainant’s house. She stated that she had kept some of the stolen jewelry at her residence and had sold the rest at a jewelry shop in Wilson Garden.
Continuing the investigation based on the information provided by the accused, the police seized a total of 67g of gold jewelry and 300g of silver items on the same day from her residence in Jayanagar 2nd Block and from the jewelry shop in Wilson Garden. The value of the seized items is estimated to be 7,00,000.
The accused was produced before the Honorable Court on September 6, 2025, and the court remanded her to judicial custody.
