Bengaluru : The Seshadripuram police on Wednesday arrested five accused who tried to get compensation of Rs 70 crore by creating a false document in connection with a six-acre land in Challaghat near Kengeri.
Srinivas, Nagaraj, Ravikumar, Bharat and Swamy were arrested. DCP (Central) HT Shekhar said that among the five accused, Nagaraj has been taken into custody by the police and the remaining four have been sent to judicial custody.
Based on the complaint filed by DySP Mallesh of BDA Vigilance Division, Challaghat residents Puttamma, Gangamma, Nagaraj, Lakshmamma, Srinivasa, Santhosh, Ravikumar, Bharat, Suneeth, Asha, Swamy, Umesh, BDA acquired land. Seshadripur police station registered an FIR against the officer, special tehsildar, revenue department officials, BDA officer and staff and issued a notice.
After the case came to light, it is known that some officers switched off their mobile phones and went missing.
It is learned that the accused Puttamma, Gangamma, Lakshmamma, Asha and five other arrested private persons had tried to get compensation by creating fake documents even though they were not the legal owners.
All the accused who have created fake documents in respect of 6 acres of land in Challaghatta Survey No. 13 and New Survey No. 58 and Moodlappa, the original owner of the land, are not related in any way. However, they created fake documents as relatives and submitted them to BDA. Also, the owners of this property claimed to be themselves and paid Rs 70 crore. Claimed compensation for valuable property.
The original owner of the property, Moodlappa alias Moodlaiah, died in 1976 and the property became bankrupt in 1992. In 2019-2020, the accused have executed a release deed regarding the property.
Raviprakash and Sudha had prepared a false map claiming that the property was already converted into revenue plots and reserved for Asyra Scheme, but the land was eligible for land compensation.
The documents submitted by the accused were not checked properly and they did not inquire about the actual owner of the property. South Deputy Divisional Officer Dr. Sivanna was involved in the fraud by ordering Bangalore South Taluk Special Tehsildar to make an account in the name of accused Puttamma in 2021. A person named Govindaraju had complained to BDA in this regard. Based on this complaint, when the preliminary inquiry was conducted and the report from the fingerprint expert was checked, it was found that the illegality was revealed.
